DIY Christmas Craft #6

I love this idea! Have your loved ones write out their wish list for everyone to see! Here's what you need:

  • Wooden Spools (I assume your local craft store should have these)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Paint and paint brush
  • Paper, cut to fit the width of the spool and long enough for a wish list!
  • Self-sticking label (good old dollar store will have these)
  • Thin tipped marker
  • Ribbon

Start out by painting your wooden spool to any color your heart desires. While it is drying, start writing out your wish list. Now, of course your wish list may be sooooooo long, that you might have to paint another spool, or four! LOL. When you're ready, run a piece of double-sided tape along the center of the spool and start rolling on your list. Since I am sure your list will be long, some of it will be left hanging so Santa can see!

Using a piece of string, run it through the center of spool and tie a knot for hanging. Write the wish-lister's name on the self-sticking label and secure it onto the sting.

Thanks to Family Fun for this craft.

Project: Netgear GS116

Truth be told, this repair was done quite some time ago and is actually part of my structured media home wiring project, which is still ongoing. This Netgear Prosafe 16 Port Gigabit Switch was part of a Craigslist lot I purchased, containing a bunch of computer equipment.  Seeing as I had no need for this switch, at the time, it just sat in my office collecting dust. Once I started my structured media home wiring project I realized the 16 port Netgear could be quite useful, but after a few unsuccessful attempts at utilizing it I realized it was DOA. Here's the situation, when this switch is plugged in, an LED will signify the unit is on and working, however whenever an Ethernet cable is inserted into any of the available jacks, there is no LED activity or connectivity. I took to the world wide web and came across a few similar situations all of which indicated that my unit probably had a bad capacitor. To verify if this was indeed the culprit behind my non functioning switch I woul
