Valentine's Day Fizz

Last years I did a post on a few sparkling wines perfect for Valentines Day. So, to add to that, here are few more for this year.

Just the other day, I found myself at the liquor store picking up some fizz for my upcoming birthday. I entered the store with my mind set on picking up two bottles of my recent favourite, Asti Spumante. Then, there lied the problem. Before me stood two bookcase like facings of sparkling wines, and as I glanced for the Asti, I saw a few more that starting to tinkle my taste buds.
Naked Grape Sparkling Wine: Rose and White Wine
bottled in British Columbia, Canada
 (Retail $12.99 - 750ml)

The last time I visited this section of the liquor store was over a year ago, but I never noticed this variety of Naked Grape. I drink Naked Grape all the time, yet I never knew they offered a sparkling wine until now. The "Fizz" varieties were released in June 2011.
Dr. Loosen Sparkling Riesling
German
(Retail $18.99 - 750 ml)

I have been a fan of white wine for most of my life, however over the years I have noticed a particular satisfaction towards Rieslings. As I stood in front of that display, the Dr. Loosen label clearly stating "Riesling" stood out.
Martini & Rossi Asti, Prosecco and Sparkling Rose, Minis
Italy
(Retail $14.99 - 187ml/4 pack)

Although these were not in the Sparkling Wine/Champaign display, I found these packs closer to the checkout. As I mentioned, I favour Martini & Rossi Asti, so clearly these cute bottles caught my eye.

Over the years, even though a fan of white wine, I have developed a liking for reds, particular Shiraz and Syrah. This recent trip to the liquor was definitely an eye opener. Did you know they offered Shiraz sparkling wines? Well I didn't!

Project: Netgear GS116

Truth be told, this repair was done quite some time ago and is actually part of my structured media home wiring project, which is still ongoing. This Netgear Prosafe 16 Port Gigabit Switch was part of a Craigslist lot I purchased, containing a bunch of computer equipment.  Seeing as I had no need for this switch, at the time, it just sat in my office collecting dust. Once I started my structured media home wiring project I realized the 16 port Netgear could be quite useful, but after a few unsuccessful attempts at utilizing it I realized it was DOA. Here's the situation, when this switch is plugged in, an LED will signify the unit is on and working, however whenever an Ethernet cable is inserted into any of the available jacks, there is no LED activity or connectivity. I took to the world wide web and came across a few similar situations all of which indicated that my unit probably had a bad capacitor. To verify if this was indeed the culprit behind my non functioning switch I woul
