In 2013 both Vision Vancouver and NPA parks board commissioners held a meeting “in camera” (in secret) voting to evict 6 local community centre associations. As President of one of these evicted community centre associations, I have spent the last year in court fighting this eviction. Frustrated by the slow and costly legal process me and my team on Vancouver 1st are seeking to remove and replace these politicians by electing knowledgeable, real people who care about their communities.
I am here to ask you to please support me and the Vancouver 1st party in the upcoming civic election.
If you have ever gone to a community centre to use the fitness centre, take fitness classes or enrol your children in daycare, preschool, before and after school classes, hot lunch program, breakfast program, maybe you have taken seniors dancing, attended a Canada Day celebration, or any of the exciting activities and events at your local community centre, it’s entirely likely they have been provided by the local community association.
With your help, with your vote or maybe even by volunteering your time, we can keep our local community associations where they belong, right here in our communities.
In November put your neighbourhood first and vote Vancouver 1st .
